Armenia-Azerbaijan Peace Treaty Inevitable, Says Aliyev

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev believes a peace treaty between Yerevan and Baku is inevitable.

"We believe that the signing of a peace treaty is inevitable, and we strive to make constructive efforts to achieve that goal. Naturally, this peace agreement should include all international norms and principles," Aliyev stated during the press conference held in Vilnius after the talks with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda, according to the APA news agency.

Aliyev hoped ongoing peace negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan "will ultimately bring stable peace to the Caucasus."

Pashinyan and Aliyev will meet with in Moscow on May 25 with Russian President Vladimir Putin. On June 1, there will be a five-way meeting in Chisinau with the participation of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, and European Council President Charles Michel. Pashinyan and Aliyev will again meet with Michel in July in Brussels.
