Former Artsakh General Vitaly Balasanyan Arrested
Former Artsakh Security Council Secretary Vitaly Balasanyan was arrested late last night at his home in Askeran on charges that he committed violence against a representative of the government.
Artsakh law enforcement hasn’t released any specifics on the case.
Balasanyan, awarded the country’s highest title, Hero of Artsakh, for his services in the first Karabakh war, earned the rank of major general in 2000 and retired from the military five years later. He then served in the Artsakh parliament and was an adviser to Artsakh President Bako Sahakyan.
