Turkey Supports Armenia-Azerbaijan Peace Treaty

Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan today, during a press briefing with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in Ankara, said Ankara supports a quick signing of a peace treaty between Yerevan and Baku since it will ensure regional stability.

"Turkey supports the initiatives that concern Azerbaijan and Armenia and calls on the international community to support them as well, without making differences between the countries. The way to stability in the region lies through the signing of a comprehensive peace agreement and the opening of the Zangezur corridor is important for that," Fidan said.

Fidan said the Lachin Corridor is the territory of Azerbaijan and Baku has the right to take all the necessary measures to protect its sovereign rights and ensure its security.

Hakan added that Armenia and Turkey are discussing the opening of the land border.
