U.S. Says Armenia, Azerbaijan Must Make Serious Compromises to Reach Peace Deal
U.S. State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller, during a July 31 press briefing, said the Armenia and Azerbaijan “have to make serious compromises” to achieve a peace deal.
Miller said the U.S. believes a peace agreement is possible and U.S. State Department Secretary Antony Blinken is talking to the leaders of both countries, encouraging them to make these compromises.
Miller declined answering a reporter’s question if the situation on the ground had worsened of late due to the ongoing Azerbaijani closure of the Lachin Corridor.
Blinken talked to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Saturday and raised his concerns about the corridor.
