Pashinyan to Aliyev: Open Lachin Corridor to Humanitarian Aid Convoy

Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan called on Azerbaijan to prove it’s committed to achieving a peace deal with Armenia by allowing a convoy of trucks carrying humanitarian aid to proceed to Stepanakert, the Artsakh capital.

Pashinyan, at today’s cabinet session in Yerevan, said the nineteen trucks remain parked at the entrance to the Lachin Corridor.

He said Baku should also release Artsakh resident Vagif Khachatryan, who was detained by Azerbaijani border guards on July 29 as he was being transferred to Armenia via the Lachin Corridor for medical treatment.

Pashinyan said Khachatryan’s detainment and Baku’s continuous torpedoing of direct dialog with Stepanakert undermine the possibility for a peace deal.

He ridiculed Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s claim, repeated during an interview with Euronews yesterday, that the Lachin Corridor is open.
