Armenia Spends $6 Million for Snoop Dogg Concert in Yerevan
The government of Armenia will spend AMD 2.318 billion (US$6 million) to organize American rapper Snoop Dogg’s September 23 concert in Yerevan’s Hrazdan Stadium.
The money will pay the rapper’s royalties, concert security and insurance expenses, and provide high-quality technical equipment.
The government approved the funding at today’s cabinet session, arguing Snoop Dog is a prominent artist with a world-wide following.
Some 25,000 tickets will be sold at “affordable prices” according to a government statement.
The concert will be organized by Doping Space, a company founded last month.
Honorary Consul of Moldova in Armenia Makar Petrosyan owns 4. 51% of the company's shares. Petrosyan is the son of former member of the National Assembly Aleksan Petrosyan.
Doping Space’s website claims “It’s a platform set to revolutionize Armenia’s music scene and to elevate Yerevan into a thriving hub for international modern music”
