Pashinyan, Russian Prime Minister Meet on Sidelines of Eurasian Intergovernmental Council Session
Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan and Russian PM Mikhail Mishustin met today in the Armenian resort town of Tzaghkadzor on the sidelines of a special meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.
Pashinyan’s office issued a press release of the meeting that, true to form, was chock full of diplomatic niceties as opposed to specifics.
Of interest, however, were remarks made Mishustin claiming that 5,000 students from Armenia are enrolled in Russian universities and that Moscow plans to support efforts to improve the quality of Russian language teaching in Armenia.
Mishustin said Moscow plans to send 50,000 Russian language textbooks to Armenia by year’s end.
Regarding the unblocking of transportation links in the South Caucasus, Mishustin said Moscow constantly backs such efforts in accordance with the agreements signed by the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.
