Stepanakert Commemorates 32nd Anniversary of Artsakh Republic Proclamation

Leading Artsakh government officials today commemorated the thirty-second anniversary of proclamation of the Republic of Artsakh by marching to a monument in Stepanakert that honors those who died defending the country.

Those who laid wreaths at the monument included Artsakh National Assembly Chairman Davit Ishkhanyan and former presidents Arkady Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan and Arayik Harutyunyan.

Ishkhanyan told ArtsakhPress the anniversary symbolizes a national awakening.

“There is a mentality among the people that we did not achieve anything in these thirty years, but I must say that it is not so. September 2, 1992 symbolizes a national awakening. Even today, times are very hard. It is very important for us to ensure internal and pan-Armenian stability and pan-Armenian stability is pan-Armenian unity,” Ishkhanyan said.

On September 2, 1991, a joint session of the Councils of People's Deputies of the Nagorno Karabakh Autonomous Oblast and the Shahumyan region proclaimed the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh.
