E.U. to Provide 500,000 Euros of Humanitarian Aid to Karabakh

The European Commission will provide 500,000 Euros of humanitarian aid to support the population affected by military operations in Artsakh, according to the  Commission’s Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations department (DG ECHO).

“Fleeing the violence, thousands of people are now displaced and in need of assistance. EU humanitarian aid will help the affected people cover their basic needs through cash assistance, while providing them also with shelter and psychosocial support,” reads the DG ECHO statement released on September 21.

This emergency funding comes in addition to the €1.17 million of humanitarian aid the EU allocated to the Nagorno Karabakh crisis earlier this year.

This emergency funding comes to complement the 1.17 million euro humanitarian aid provided by the EU to Nagorno Karabakh earlier this year.

Hetq contacted the Yerevan office of the EU delegation in Armenia for clarification as to how the aid will reach Karabakh and who will distribute it.

We were told that to get any information we need to file a written request. The office couldn’t specify how long we’d have to wait.
