Fleeing Karabakh: Displaced Armenians Take What They Can

Hundreds of vehicles packed with people and their belongings daily arrive in Kornidzor, a village in Armenia’s Syunik Province that lies near the border with Azerbaijan.

Armenians fleeing Artsakh via the Lachin Corridor have taken what they can with them. The never-ending convoy of cars, buses and even tractors has clogged the only roadway that leads to Armenia.

Once over the border, they register at reception sites organized by the Armenian Red Cross. Those who have relatives or residences in Armenia continue their journey. Those with no place to go are sent to the town of Goris and are given temporary shelter.
