Yerevan Court Places Restrictions On Anti-Government Activist
A Yerevan court today decided to ban Avetik Chalabyan, a member of the anti-government Unification initiative, from participating in rallies and other public events and from changing his place of residence without informing relevant law enforcement for a period of thirty months.
Chalabyan was arrested last August on charges that he attempted to bribe the chairman of Yerevan’s Agrarian University’s Student Council to rally students to attend anti-Pashinyan rallies earlier this year in the Armenian capital.
Chalabyan is a member of the Board of Trustees of Repat Armenia, a non-profit organization founded in 2012 that offers services to those seeking to relocate to Armenia.
He’s currently a senior partner at the Moscow office of the global management consulting firm McKinsey&Company.
