Armen Melikbekyan Reelected Football Federation of Armenia President
The Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) today reelected Armen Melikbekyan as its president by a vote of 20-3.
Three votes went to Aras Ozbilz, a former player for Armenia’s national team.
Two of the FFA’s twenty-five members, the Noah and Shirak football clubs didn’t cast votes.
Ozbiliz announced his retirement from football in November and that he’d be running for the post of FAA president.
Ozbiliz, in an English language interview with Football Kentron, stressed the need to develop grassroots football in Armenia and to create training facilities for young players.
He posted the following on his FB page following today’s vote.
“I want to say thank you to everybody who has been with me on this amazing journey. Regardless of the result of today Armenian football will never be the same again!”
