Baku Court Extends Ruben Vardanyan's Detention

A Baku court today extended the detention of the former Artsakh State Minister Ruben Vardanyan for another four months.

The news was reported by RIA Novosti.

Azerbaijani border guards arrested Vardanyan on September 27, 2023 as he was travelling from Karabakh to Armenia via the Lachin Corridor.

Vardanyan was taken to Baku and charged with financing terrorism, creating and participating in illegal armed organizations, and illegally crossing the Azerbaijani state border.

Also detained in Baku are the second, third and fourth presidents of the Republic of Artsakh (Arkadi Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, Arayik Harutyunyan), former   Artsakh National Assembly Speaker Davit Ishkhanyan, former Artsakh Foreign Minister Davit Babayan, former Artsakh Defense Army Commander Levon Mnatsakanyan, and former Artsakh Armed Forces Deputy Commander Davit Manukyan.
