Azerbaijani Deputy Energy Minister Elnur Soltanov, in an interview with the Turkish Anadolu Agency, reaffirmed that Baku has invited Armenian officials to the COP29 climate change conference in Baku this November.

Soltanov said the invitation was sent to all global heads of state, including Armenia.

In July, Azerbaijani Presidential Senior Aide Hikmet Hajiyev said an invitation was sent to the Armenian Foreign Ministry.

In December 2023, Armenia announced it supported Azerbaijan’s bid to host the climate conference as a sign of goodwill to build confidence between the two countries.

Armenia has yet to announce whether any government official will attend.
