Armenia’s Prosecutor General’s Office has filed a court request to seize property and cash belonging to Vardan Ghukasyan, the former mayor of Armenia’s second largest city Gyumri.

Ghukasyan, in 2022, was charged with illegally expropriating plots of land, some state-owned, while mayor between 1999 and 2012.

Armenia’s Investigative Committee wrote that evidence gathered also points to money laundering on Ghukasyan’s part.
