Baku Chastizes Armenia for COP29 No-Show

Azerbaijan has chastised Armenia for not sending a delegation to the COP29 climate change conference in Baku despite being invited.

“Azerbaijan, as a member of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, has sent an invitation to all parties. Unfortunately, the Armenian delegation was not represented at COP29, despite the invitation. At the same time, Yerevan continues to talk about regional cooperation and partnership. This proves once again that Armenia is conducting only its own one-sided propaganda," Azerbaijani Presidential Assistant Hikmet Hajiyev told the Azerbaijani press.

Hajiyev accused Armenia of actively engaging in anti-Azerbaijan propaganda rather than participating in these “important negotiations”.

"However, instead of participating in these important negotiations, Armenia and its related forces took an active part in anti-Azerbaijani propaganda ahead of COP29," Hajiyev continued.

The 29th conference of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change started in Azerbaijan yesterday with dozens of world leaders and high-ranking officials, including the UN Secretary General, arriving in Baku.

The Armenian government, yesterday, announced it has yet to decide whether to attend the conference.
