Armenian Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan is in New York to attend the 69th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69).

The Armenian delegation also includes MP Arsen Torosyan and Coordinator of the Coalition of Support Centers Against Domestic Violence Nare Hayrapetyan.  

The session is dedicated to the review and assessment of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and is attended by high-ranking representatives of UN Member States, UN agencies, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) accredited by the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) from all regions of the world.

Mkrtchyan is scheduled to deliver a speech at the general discussion of the event, as well as within the framework of the ministerial roundtable.

A related event titled “Demographic Change and Gender Equality” will also be held during the session, with high-ranking participation from various countries and agencies.

Bilateral meetings are planned during the visit to develop existing cooperation in the field of labor and social protection, establish new ties, as well as discuss issues related to the implementation of joint programs.
