Employees of Armenia’s Environmental Protection and Mineral Resources IInspectorate and the Ministry of Internal Affairs Police confiscated a bezoar goat  (Capra aegagrus) that a person in the community of Areni (Vayots Dzor) was keeping as a pet.  

The animal was transferred to the National Center for Zoology and Hydroecology of the National Academy of Sciences.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List of Threatened Species lists the bezoar as “vulnerable”.

The Bezoar or wild goat is the ancestor of a domestic goat.
