Armenian Internal Affairs Deputy Minister Meets with EU Drugs Agency Delegation

Armenian Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Armen Ghazaryan, today in Yerevan,  met with a delegation led by the Chief Coordinator of the European Union Drug Monitoring Program Ilze Jekabsone.

Ghazaryan, according to his office, briefed Jekabsone on the ministry’s policy in combatting narcotics and the draft anti-drug strategy, as well as the development of a crime-prevention policy.

Ghazaryan  touched upon the deepening of cooperation between Armenia and Europol, emphasizing the importance of Armenia’s appointment of a liaison officer to Europol.

He also highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation with the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (FRONTEX), noting that it will contribute to increasing the effectiveness of border control and the fight against crime.

Prospects of cooperation, opportunities of exchange of experience and other matters pertaining to combating drug trafficking were discussed.
