Trump: "I Will End the War Between Armenia and Azerbaijan"

U.S. President Donald Trump, in post on his Truth Social platform yesterday, boasted that he will end the “war” between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Trump, who will meet with the leaders of Armena and Azerbaijan today at the White House, announced that Yerevan and Baku will sign a peace treaty.

Here’s what Trump wrote:

"I look forward to hosting the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, at the White House tomorrow for a Historic Peace Summit. These two Nations have been at War for many years, resulting in the deaths of thousands of people. Many Leaders have tried to end the War, with no success, until now, thanks to “TRUMP.” My Administration has been engaged with both sides for quite some time. Tomorrow, President Aliyev AND Prime Minister Pashinyan will join me at the White House for an official Peace Signing Ceremony. The United States will also sign Bilateral Agreements with both Countries to pursue Economic opportunities together, so we can fully unlock the potential of the South Caucasus Region. I am very proud of these courageous Leaders for doing the right thing for the Great People of Armenia and Azerbaijan. It will be a Historic Day for Armenia, Azerbaijan, the United States, and, THE WORLD. See you then! DJT"

Is this a cause for celebration? Of course not! Expecting anything from the US administration (whether Neocon-Republicans or Liberal-Democrats) concerning putting pressure on Baku's petrostate dictator is just wishful thinking! Don't forget the old proverb: "No matter how sharp a knife is, it will never cut its own handle!" When Baku's petrostate dictator started ethnic cleansing of Artsakh Armenians, Trump was POTUS, but did nothing to stop this barbarism. However, as a candidate for POTUS in October 2024, he blasted Harris for "inaction on ethnic cleansing of Artsakh’s Armenian Christians". What a disgusting hypocrisy! The same disgusting hypocrisy applies to his Liberal-Democrat predecessor, who "proudly recognized" the Armenian Genocide! However, a day before on April 23, 2021, he called his buddy sultan Erdogan to inform him (and to get his permission) about his decision. On the same day, to placate only Muslim member of NATO (quasi-owner of AZ) he waived Section 907 of the FREEDOM Support Act (about the stoppage of any direct aid to Azerbaijan), greenlighting continued U.S. military aid to Azerbaijan to reward its bloodthirsty petrol-dictator, who right after the end of the 44-day war triumphantly celebrated the ethnic cleansing of Armenian people of Hadrut and Shushi by shouting out: "We chased them out of our lands like dogs". https://lnkd.in/g_5UxjEd Could we expect otherwise from the "Christian civilized world" under the US hierarchy? Of course not! When it comes to their interests, they put profit ahead of the people. In this case, they preferred the dirty oil/gas of Azerbaijan and, most importantly, the strategic geopolitical location of the only Muslim member of NATO (quasi-owner of AZ) to Armenia's eternal wealth of 1000s of years of civilization and culture https://lnkd.in/ggMEDcCh

This corridor deal could make future conflict a certainty, because it is based on ‘revenue’ reported from one or more of the lessees. A dispute is sure to arise between these neighboring historical foes, over the veracity of revenue amounts reported…. Make the rent be based on a fixed amount of precious metal delivered. Let the USA be guarantor of the deal. USA pays a fixed amount of gold to Armenia bi-annually. And sub-leases to the Azeris… Avoid making the deal be based on accounting audits and revenue ‘reports’ from Azerbeijan- a sure path to future conflict… Make the details of the deal open to public scrutiny and Armenian parliamentary approval. This is such a long-term impactful deal to the small nation of Armenia that it should not depend on the sole approval of a prime minister. This is a matter for the Armenian people’s scrutiny and parliament’s approval.
