
Pashinyan, Goldman Sachs Official Discuss Attracting Foreign Investment to Armenia
Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan and Jared Cohen, President of Global Affairs at Goldman Sachs, one of the world's leading investment banks, met today in Yerevan and discussed the potential for further cooperation between Armenia and the bank.
The two, according to Pashinyan’s office, focused on the direction of Armenia's economic development, attracting foreign investments, and promoting innovative and technological projects.
They also discussed parties the reforms implemented by Armenian government to improve the business environment in Armenia.
In April, the Armenian investment fund Balchug Capital completed an acquisition of the Russian subsidiary of Goldman Sachs,
Russian President Vladimir Putin gave the green light for Balchug Capital to purchase Goldman Sachs' subsidiary in January, paving the way for the U.S. bank to withdraw from the Russian market and extract capital stranded there.
Goldman Sachs, in March 2022, decided to wind down operations in Russia in response to the country's invasion of Ukraine.
