Armenia, Turkey Special Reps Meet in Yerevan

The top negotiators of Armenia and Turkey tasked with advancing the process of full normalization of relations between the two countries met in Yerevan today.

Armenia’s Ruben Rubinyan and Turkey’s Serdar Kılıç (both are official designated as “Special Representatives”) met for the sixth time today and, according to Armenia’s foreign ministry, exchanged views on the implementation of the agreement reached during the meeting on July 1, 2022 on border demarcation.

They also agreed that the relevant bodies of the two countries will carry out the necessary technical studies for the rehabilitation and operation of the Gyumri-Kars railway and power transmission line.

They also discussed the joint rehabilitation of the historic Ani/Silk Road Bridge and the potential for other interested companies to operate flights to various destinations from the summer of 2026, which would increase the number of air routes and flights between the two countries.
