Pashinyan Attends “Board of Peace” Signing Ceremony in Davos

Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan attended U.S. President Donald Trump’s unveiling of the “Board of Peace” at the Davos World Economic Forum today.

Pashinyan was one of the twenty world leaders who joined Trump in signing the board’s founding charter.

Over two dozen countries, including Armenia, have so far agreed to join the board, but no major European U.S. allies have joined over concerns it would rival the U.N.

When asked by a reporter at the White House on Tuesday if the board would replace the U.N., Trump said: "It might."

The board includes countries such as Albania, Argentina, Israel, and Saudi Arabia. Trump described the group as influential and effective. Although it was created last year with a UN mandate to manage Gaza, the Board of Peace's charter does not explicitly mention Gaza.
