Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, in Strasbourg today, signed the Council of Europe’s Framework Convention on Artificial Intelligence and human rights, democracy and the rule of law.

The Convention is the first international legally binding treaty aimed at ensuring the protection of fundamental human rights in the application of artificial intelligence. The signing of the Convention will enable the development of the legal framework related to the use of artificial intelligence through close cooperation with international partners.

CoE Secretary General Alain Berset expressed gratitude to Armenia for signing the Convention and for joining efforts to promote international cooperation in this direction.

To date, the Framework Convention has been signed by seventeen countries, including member and observer states of the Council of Europe, as well as the European Union.
