Capacity of AI Factory Being Built in Armenia to Double
Firebird co-founder Alexander Yesayan, during the AI Conf 2026 conference at Yerevan State University on April 18, announced that the capacity of the AI Factory now under construction in Armenia will double.
The AI Factory is a joint project of Firebird, Nvidia, and the Armenian government. Investments totaling US$500 million were announced for the first phase. On February 10, 2026, Firebird and the U․S․ government officially announced the launch of the second phase of the project and an investment increase of $4 billion. By the end of the year, it is planned to launch the 50,000 GPUs announced for the second phase in the town of Hrazdan.
In the third phase, it is planned to centralize another 60,000 graphics processors (GPUs) in Armenia and increase their total number in the country to 110,000. Yesayan said active negotiations are underway with the Armenian government to provide the necessary electricity for the replenishment.
NVIDIA VP Rev Lebaredian noted that by the end of the year, when 50,000 GPUs are launched, Armenia will be among the top five in the world in terms of their number, overtaking major European countries.
“Today, no one in the world knows how to use AI, which gives equal opportunities to both Armenia and the United States. We are now becoming a rich country in terms of AI, but it depends on us whether we will take advantage of this opportunity or not. We have the opportunity to move faster than others,” Lebaredian stressed.
He believes the first practical results of the project will be visible soon. The 6,000 GPUs of the first stage will become available to researchers within the next month.
“This is an opportunity for people with new ideas to rebuild our ideas about the future. We don’t need to know how things have been done over the past 50 years. we must be creative and create the future,” Lebaredian said.
