Russia Curbs Import of Stone Fruits, Eggplants, Potatoes, Dried Fruit From Armenia
Russia is introducing temporary restrictions on the import of crops, potatoes, dried and stone fruits of Armenian origin as of June 3.
Rosselkhoznadzor, Russia’s agricultural safety watchdog, also announced that the transit of these goods to the EAEU member states is also limited due to the lack of mechanisms for confirming the receipt of quarantine goods by these countries.
On Monday, Rosselkhoznadzor said it had detected a growing number of violations in Armenian fruit shipments to Russia.
It added that it had repeatedly notified Armenia about problems with its products, which it linked to the 2019 dissolution of Armenia’s Ministry of Agriculture and the transfer of its duties to the economy ministry.
Citing Armenia’s alleged noncompliance with EAEU phytosanitary rules, the agency said the economy ministry had structural problems that prevented it from fully carrying out its responsibilities.
In May 2026, Russia imposed several restrictions on imports from Armenia. Rosselkhoznadzor began restricting the import of Armenian vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, etc.), fruits (strawberries), as well as fish and fish products.
Previously, restrictions were also imposed on the import of brandy, wine, flowers, and Jermuk mineral water from Armenia.
