France Hails First Anniversary of Armenia-Azerbaijan Peace Deal

France marked the first anniversary of the Trump-brokered peace deal between Armenia and Azerbaijan as a historic agreement to normalize relations between Yerevan and Baku.

The French Foreign Ministry, in a statement releaed today, praised the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan for taking important and bold steps to make peace a tangible reality for their peoples.

«France expects that this process will continue with the signing and ratification of a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the opening of borders and the development of transport links in the region, so that the South Caucasus once again becomes a territory of full cooperation and a connecting link between Europe and Asia,» the statement reads.

The statement says that France, together with its European partners, will continue to actively support this process, fully respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
