Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Court today ruled to detain Sedrak Kocharyan, the son of former Armenian president Levon Kocharyan, for two months.

The two were taken into custody yesterday as part of a sweeping corruption probe.

The country’s Prosecutor General’s Office reports that, as part of the probe, criminal proceedings have been launched against former defense minister Serzh Sargsyan, former prime minister Andranik Margaryan, and former Yerevan mayor Gagik Beglaryan.

According to an official statement released by Armenia's Anti-Corruption Committee (ACC), Robert Kocharyan is accused of exploiting his presidential office between 1998 and 2008 to amass a vast family fortune through bribes and the heavily discounted, illegal acquisition of state property.
