Announcement on Photo Editing Workshop

The “4+” Documentary Photography Center in Armenia is announcing a photo editing workshop on October 12-19, 2012, for photojournalists working in Armenia.

The masters are photojournalist at Noor Photo Agency Yuri Kozyrev and the photo editor of the Russian Reporter Magazine Andrei Polikanov.

Considering the low level of professional photo editing in Armenian media, the workshop aims at teaching editing skills to photojournalists.

Throughout a period of one week, the selected photojournalists will work on a photo story which is assigned and shot in advance of the workshop. The masters will show the students the strong and weak sides of their photos, will give advice on how to edit (select) the photos, how to sequence them, in order to complete a professional and visually impressive photo story.

Upon necessity, the workshop participants will have a chance to improve their work, under the guidance of the masters.

In order to take part in the workshop, please fill out the application, and send it together with your CV to [email protected], within the period of September 8-18 (see the application form at the end of the announcement).

The initial selection will be made on the basis of the portfolio (max 20 photos) and the participation cover letter. There will be 10-12 participants selected for the workshop. They will receive group and personal assignments, which should be ready before the beginning of the workshop.

The workshop is free. The working language is Russian. Upon the end of the workshop, the participants will together complete a multimedia.

4+ is an initiative started by several Armenian photojournalists and documentary photographers. Its aim is the development of Armenia's photojournalism and documentary photography, as well as raising awareness about issues in this field, and raising the importance of photography within media.

The workshop is made possible through the assistance of the Open Society Foundations - Armenia.
