Armenian President Welcomes Pacific Council Delegation Led by Former U.S. Ambassador Kvien

YEREVAN — Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan received a high-profile delegation from the Pacific Council on International Policy at the Presidential Palace on October 1, 2026.

The delegation was led by Kristina Kvien, the think tank's executive director and the former United States Ambassador to Armenia.

The meeting underscores Armenia's ongoing effort to deepen ties with prominent Western policy institutions amid a shifting regional security landscape. Khachaturyan welcomed the delegation, emphasizing the critical role international think tanks play in driving nuanced expert analysis, fostering strategic dialogue, and building global partnerships centered on the South Caucasus.

Kvien, who transitioned to leadership at the Los Angeles-based Pacific Council after concluding her diplomatic tenure in Yerevan earlier this year, expressed her gratitude for the reception. She reaffirmed her deep, ongoing affinity for Armenia, noting that her personal commitment to the country's future is strongly rooted in her years of diplomatic service to the nation.

Under Kvien's leadership, the Pacific Council on International Policy—a non-partisan organization focused on global affairs and international relations—has continued to closely track democratic developments and geopolitical dynamics across Eurasia.

According to the official statement released by the President’s Office, the discussions between Khachaturyan and the Pacific Council delegates spanned a wide range of critical topics. Chief among them were pressing regional security developments, the continuous strengthening of Armenia's democratic institutions, and a comprehensive review of the country's latest domestic, foreign, and economic policies.
