Sevan Stocking: Police to Monitor Entrances to Lake
At the behest of the Ministry of the Environment roads leading to the shores of Lake Sevan will be closed after today’s stocking of 366,000 fry to the mountain lake.
This is necessary since the fry remain in the area where stocked and there is a danger that local residents might see this as an opportune time to harvest the fish.
The minister also reports that police will beef up patrols in the area to prevent unwanted entrance to the stocking sites.
No information as to the species stocked was made public.
Several species of Sevan fish have vanished forever due to overfishing and pollution.
