Will Former PM Bagratyan Run for President?
Today, former RA Prime Minister Hrant Bagratyan hinted that he would throw his hat in the race for the next president of Armenia as the candidate of the Azatutyun (Liberal) Party.
Bagratyan, whose Azatutyun Party is a member of Ter-Petrosyan’s umbrella Armenian National Congress, noted on his Facebook page that he would announce his decision to run at the Azatutyun Party congress to take place on December 24.
He said that his nomination was on the party’s agenda and that he believed it was imperative for someone with a liberal philosophy to run.
Bagratyan, who served as prime minister under first RA President Levon Ter-Petrosyan, said that he would withdraw his nomination if Ter-Petrosyan decided to run.
