@14...Alternative to what exactly? You're speaking in contradictions Varaz. First you lament the environmental destruction of Syunik then turn around and recommend that Armenia stockpiles nuclear weapons.. That's some solution. Armenia is so tiny geographically that I really don't think that Turkey would risk even a strategic nuclear attack on Yerevan. The fallout would be disastrous regionally. Armenia's position hasn't really changed all that much since the Cold War. It is still under the strategic/economic hegemony of Russia and all that entails, including nuclear deterrence. Even with the recent cooling of relations between Ankara and Washington, Turkey would never or could never launch a nuclear strike against Armenia. First of all, those are NATO weapons installed in western Armenia (eastern Turkey). Erdogan is hardly in a position to push the launch bottom by himself. The same goes for the Patriot missiles now stationed along the Turkish-Syrian border. NATO has to authorize their use. Armenia recently prolonged its security pact with Russia until 2045 or something. That's your security blanket. You talk about preventing a second Genocide....well your scenario of Armenia getting its hands on a nuclear weapon would only increase the chances of obliterating what's left of the Armenian homeland - its people and your precious natural environment.

Armenia must then explain the world community that it MUST have security guarantees, so that second Genocide wouldn't be possible. Just like Israel did. Sitting in the corner and hoping will change nothing.

As I see it from Armenia, these well meaning activists need to get their act together in terms of organizational skills,community outreach and basic public relations. They call for the participation of other concerned individuals but there is no contact info in their press release. Sort of odd.
