Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan stated today the government has drafted a long-term plan of action to develop the agricultural sector in Armenia and that this mandates an in-depth census of agricultural lands, livestock, equipment, facilities and other resources.

PM Sargsyan said the government had discussed the census issue with international donor organizations, World Bank representatives and various foreign ambassadors serving in Armenia.

“We can no longer regard agriculture independent of rural development. Villagers who will not be engaged in agriculture must still have jobs in their villagers. With this in mind, a large-scale investment plan is being implemented. The agricultural sector census will thus be one  of the government’s important 2013-2016 projects,” PM Sargsyan noted.
