
Chakhalyan Freed From Georgian Jail
About a half hour ago, Vahagn Chakhalyan was released from a Georgian prison where he was serving ten years on an illegal weapons and fomenting a public disturbance charge.
Chakhalyan’s lawyer Stepan Voskanyan told Hetq that they are now on their way to a n Armenian church in Tbilisi. Afterwards, Chakhalyan plans to go to his home in Akhalkalak.
Chakhalyan has been incarcerated since July 2008.
The United Javakhk leader Vahagn Chakhalyan is expected to be freed under an amnesty bill passed by the Georgian Parliament on December 21.
