Armenia Celebrates "Music Day"

For the 5th consecutive year, Armenia will today celebrate "Music Day". Concerts and musical performances ranging from rock to classical will take place throughout Yerevan – in the streets, public spaces and cafes.

The holiday will kick-off at 11:30am and last till midnight. The program is the joint effort of the Ministry of Culture and the French Embassy. The organizers have sought to include more young people in the list of performers this year.

The groups "Arevner" and Astghik" will perform at Victory Park (12-1:30) and a group of girl drummers will take the stage on Northern Avenue from 2-3pm. A children's brass band will play at the English Garden from 3-3:45pm.

The UNICEF Children's Chamber Orchestra will perform in the park opposite the Komitas Conservatory from 5-6:30pm.

Music Day will also be celebrated in the various regions of Armenia.

The program was started in 1982 in France and now boasts over 110 participating countries with 350 large and small musical groups.
