MP Arzakantsyan - "I will not tolerate the press sullying my image"
MP Tigran Arzakantsyan today told reporters that while he "wasn't looking for a fight", he wouldn't allow the media to tarnish his name or image and spread lies about him.
It would appear that by "spreading lies", Arzakantsyan means any press reports that he doesn't like. He expressed a similar view when Hetq recently wrote about the villa he owns in a posh Paris suburb.
MP Arzakantsyan denied the story and said that his lawyers were reviewing the matter.
A few days ago, I called to arrange for an interview with the MP. When I told him I was from Hetq Arzakantsyan said, "Listen up. I won't answer any of your questions. You will still answer for what you have written."
I requested that we meet in person and Arzakantsyan agreed to an interview in a cognac store on Abovyan Street. Minutes later, one of his assistant called to say that the MP had business in the courts and that the interview would have to be postponed.
MP Arzakantsyan has even sent some of his "friends" around to try and convince Hetq to lay-off the legislator.
When we wouldn't agree, one young man sent by the MP, promised to try and arrange a meeting after being told that Hetq wanted to ask Arzakantsyan about his mining related business.
The young man said he would get back to us in an hour or two.
He did call us back, only to say that MP Arzakantsyan had decided to stop meeting with reporters all together.
I guess the MP later changed his mind. How else can you explain the fact that he again met with us reporters today, taking the opportunity to berate us for "spreading falsehoods"?
