Photojournalism for Beginners: Workshop with Eric Grigorian

April 25-29, 2013

The 4+ Documentary Photography Center invites photojournalists in the beginning of their career for a workshop with photojournalist, winner of the World Press Photo Eric Grigorian.

We are inviting photographers who have less than two years of experience in photography or photojournalism and documentary photography. Whether you are interested in news or street photography or want to begin a documentary project, this workshop is for you.

Photojournalists tell stories through images. Their responsibility is capturing reality and sharing it in a way that only visual images can.

During this workshop, you will receive answer to questions like, how to get started? How to frame your image? How to give true information through photography (ethics)? How to tell a story through one and more images (photo story)? How to build a portfolio and distribute your work?

In order to take part in this workshop, please send us a maximum of 12 images (single or photo story), each image not larger than 2 MB. Also include a motivation letter (no longer than 500 words), where you describe your photojournalistic experience, education and most importantly, the reasons behind your interest in this workshop.

Send your applications to [email protected], by April 15, 2013.

The workshop is free. The working language is English with translation into Armenian.

4+ is an initiative started by several Armenian photojournalists and documentary photographers. Its aim is the development of Armenia's photojournalism and documentary photography, as well as raising awareness about issues in this field, and raising the importance of photography within media.

The workshop is made possible through the assistance of the Open Society Foundations - Armenia.
