
Civilitas Founding Board Member Questioned
Vahe Aghabegians, a founding member of the Board of the Civilitas Foundation, arrived in Armenia on April 6 and two days later was called for questioning by Armenia's National Security Service within the framework of the ongoing investigation relating to the Civilitas Foundation. Aghabegians has not been a member of the board since February 2012 and has not lived in Armenia since 2009.
The questioning took place on April 11, during which the investigator inquired about projects carried out in 2001 in Armenia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Aghabegians was an unpaid volunteer advisor to the Minister from 1998 to 2008. He was also questioned about car wash and fuel issues having to do with cars not belonging to the Civilitas Foundation. The Civilitas Foundation reports that there were also questions about "money laundering."
