Catholicos Garegin II Hosts Delegation from Armenia's Compulsory Enforcement Service
Ok folks, here’s a weird piece of news for you.
Today, Catholicos Garegin II hosted a reception in Etchmiadzin for employees of the RA Compulsory Enforcement Service of Judicial Acts to mark the agency’s 15th anniversary.
The service acts like court bailiffs of old or sheriffs in the present.
That’s to say that if a court orders the eviction of a family for not paying the rent, the Service is authorized to go to the house and throw them out on the street.
Of course, court bailiffs/sheriffs follow the dictates of the legal system, but we all know what that means in Armenia.
The press release issued by the Holy See of Etchmiadzin adds that Catholicos Garegin II told the invited guests, including members of similar foreign services, about the Armenian Church’s historic role in the life of the people and the need for strengthening “Christian values” within society.
