Prime Minister Meets with Disgruntled War Vets; Promises Action
Today, RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan met with Artsakh War vets who have been staging a spate of recent protest actions to demand better living conditions and more government assistance.
Yesterday, in front of the Government Building in Yerevan, the vets staged a noisy protest, calling on the government to grant them “special status”, a move that would open the way for various allowances and financial privileges.
PM Sargsyan listened to the concerns of the vets and subsequently instructed the Ministry of Defense to go over the lists of war vets now included in various social programs in detail and make any necessary corrections.
The vets also explained that they were also concerned about the disdainful way the public today perceives them.
PM Sargsyan pledged that the government would discuss the issues raised and would try to come up with adequate solutions. He suggested that the two sides meet again in the near future.
