Armenia's Defense Ministry to Send More Soldiers to Villages Along Border with Azerbaijan
During a recent visit to military bases on Armenia’s north-eastern border with Azerbaijan, RA Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan said that he was planning to increase the number of Armenian contract soldiers in border settlements.
Ohanyan told reporters that the move would not only beef up security along the border with Azerbaijan but would also boost morale in the border villages, which are often targeted by Azerbaijani snipers.
During his tour, Ohanyan met with frontline soldiers and officers and participated in celebrations marking the “name day” of the village of Movses.
During the Great Patriotic War (WW II), 402 Movses villagers volunteered for the front. 207 of them never returned.
484 Movses villagers continued the tradition and participated in the Artsakh Liberation War.
