More Taxpayer Money Being Misused: Who Exactly is Profiting?

Why the Yerevan Municipality is spending huge amounts of money to repave streets in the center of the capital when thoroughfares in the rest of the city are in dire need of repair remains a mystery to all.

The streets now being repaved were in pretty good condition before the construction began.

We see this as a huge waste of taxpayer money and demand that the Yerevan Municipality open its books so that the public is given the opportunity to see why and how such sizeable sums are being spent.

We also want to know who the contracting company is and just who is overseeing the work.

Why doesn’t the municipality spend money where it is actually needed?

A month a go i asked the same question to my self while walking trough Yerevan in Erebuni district, why all these cheap work - starting from painting some gangways of buildings including installation of cheap play yards for children made of poor plastic material ans so on !... The answer is simply : where there are more work to do and the streets are in need or urgent repair there are less profitable for the companies in charge of currying out theses repair works. Beside this what the the municipality is doing is more like a PR campaign (facade) rather serious long term quilt of work... PS: While the rest of developted world is trying to implement public transportation for 22 century , the municipality has implemented a very uncivilized public transportation system ( maybe used in 20 century). There are many back warded officials and lobby groups in charge of problems- to solve them. but the fact is that the same lobby groups and officials are part of teh problem!
