Armenian Foreign Minister: 'If some don't understand our position on the EU Association Agreement, that's their problem'

Minutes ago Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian spoke to reporters in the National Assembly regarding the European Union Association Agreement and whether it’s “dead in the water”.

Is Armenia planning to sign the Association Agreement in Vilnius in November?

We have been specific on this issue and I have spoken about this at my meeting with the Foreign Minister of Latvia. Do you know that Lithuania is now presiding at the EU? In the statement issued After the meeting with EU Commissioner Stefan Fühle we have stressed Armenia’s desire to continue, in all forms possible, our deep and close cooperation with the EU, to continue to advance our cooperation based on all the positive achievements registered in the past years between Armenia and the EU, to the extent that the EU deems possible and which does not conflict with Armenia’s decision to join the Customs Union.

Does such a possibility exist?

We are saying and you have seen that the Latvian Foreign Minister also noted that yes; we must advance relations between Armenia and the EU based on that which we have already achieved.

Mr. Foreign Minister, why is the opposition unsatisfied, arguing that a comprehensive answer hasn’t been given?

If anyone only wants to voice their issue and not listen to the answer, then I believe that no answer exists. I have given answers to all questions that have been voiced. If some do not understand or refuses to accept them because they believe differently, that’s their problem.
