U.S. Department of Commerce to Train Armenian Customs Officials
The U.S. Department of Commerce is organizing a three day seminar in Yerevan tasked with raising the level of professionalism within Armenia’s State Revenue Committee, specifically targeting customs appraisal and classification.
The first seminar will be conducted by two advisors from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and one from the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.
The Department of Commerce website states that the training seminars are designed to ensure that customs procedures are fair, harmonious and transparent, and that they correspond to the obligations as set forth in the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) and the WTO Customs Valuation Agreement.
