Criminal Charges Launched against Members of Armenian Trafficking Gang

The preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated by the General Investigation Department of the RA Police against the 8 members of the criminal group for committing trafficking has been completed. The prosecutor who was supervising the preliminary investigation of the criminal case has confirmed the bill of indictment.

During the preliminary investigation of the criminal case it has been revealed that RA citizen N. Nersisyan lived in the United Arab Emirates and formed an organized group in order to recruit people for trafficking.

The organized group consisted of more than 10 persons including the members of her family, her mother A. Hayrapetyan living in Armenia, brother A. Nersisyan, living in Volgograd, Russia, sister H. Vasilyan and the latter's husband A. Vasilyan.

According to the preliminary investigation data, each member of the organized group had a role, that is N. Nersisyan directed the actions, covered visa expenses and organized the trafficking of the "victims" together with a Nara and a Serine. The other members of the group H. Arakelyan, A. Ayvazyan, V. Avetisyan, T. Avetisyan, A. Hayrapetyan and A. Nersisyan organized the recruitment of the women and their transfer to Dubai, where S. Hovsepyan met the "victims".

Pursuant to the details of the criminal case from 2003 to 2010 about a dozen of women were recruited and taken to Dubai by the members of the criminal group.

Based on the evidence obtained during the preliminary investigation of the criminal case, 8 persons have been accused. In particular, Aghunik Ayvazyan and Hasmik Arakelyan have been accused according to the RA Criminal Code Articles 132, part 3, point 1 and 1322, part 3, point 1, Tsovik Avetisyan and her son Vahagn Avetisyan accused according to the RA Criminal Code Article 132, part 2, point 2 and Armen Vasilyan and Heghush Vasilyan Article 1322, part 2, point 2.

The part of the criminal case initiated against these persons has been separated and sent to the Court of First Instance of Kentron and Nork Marash administrative districts.

N. Avetisyan, A. Avetisyan, A. Hayrapetyan and S. Hovsepyan are under search. Steps are taken to discover them, to reveal the identity of other persons involved in this criminal activity, as well as to find other victims.
