Plans to erect a 20 story hotel on Aram Street in downtown Yerevan were unanimously shot down at a recent meeting of the Yerevan Municipality's Council of Urban Construction. Members called on the builders to scale down the number of floors.

By a vote of 24 to 3, the Council gave the go-ahead for a 7-8 story hotel to be built near the Republic Square metro station.
