Kapan Youth March in Protest of Pension System
Several hundred young people marched through the streets of the southern Armenian town of Kapan in opposition to the mandatory pension system that goes into effect as of January 1.
The march kicked off at the bus station and headed towards the office of the Syunik Regional Governor’s Office in the center of town.
Armen Parsadanyan, President of the Sustainable Development NGO told Hetq that the march was a success in that many passersby were informed about the looming pension system.
“Given the high spirits of the participants, we are thinking of continuing such protests in order to mobilize the citizenry,” Parsadanyan noted.
