927.6 Kilos of Heroin Found in Truck Entering Armenia from Iran
927.6 kilograms of heroin were discovered when a truck entering Armenia from Iran was inspected at the Meghri customs house on January 17, according to a report released today by the RA National Security Service (NSS).
The drugs were hidden in the truck that was destined for Georgia.
The NSS says that regionally, this is the largest drug confiscation to date.
Criminal charges based on Article 215, Part 2, of the RA Criminal Code (Contraband) have been filed and the driver, Georgian citizen Avtandil Martiashvili, has been arrested.
The NSS says it is conducting a search for accomplices.
