Armenia's Heritage Party Condemns Violence Perpetrated by Ukraine Authorities

Since the formation of the Kiev Euromaidan in November 2013, the Heritage Party has followed the events in Ukraine that came about as a result of the Ukrainian authorities refusal to sign the Association Agreement with EU.

Unfortunately, as of last week, the confrontation between the authorities and the society crossed the line of what's permissible. Brutal force was exercised against the demonstrators and it led to fatalities.

The Heritage Party conveys his condolences to the families and friends of the victims, among which was our countryman Serhiy Nigoyan. As a political force of the country that suffered similar tragedy in 2008 March 1, we strongly condemn the violence, the government attempts to squash the public protest and keep the authority in hands by any mean.

The ongoing political crisis in Ukraine, the abduction and torture of the Euramaidan activists, the futility of talks held between the authorities and the opposition so far give rise to trepidation of further bloodshed. The Heritage Party urges the international organizations – the UN, EU, COE, OSCE to undertake urgent discussions and steps in the frame of their mandate to put an end to the violence and seek a political solution to the crisis.

Once again we extend our full support to the people of Ukraine and our friends in opposition in their fight for rights, for freedom and for Ukraine.
